PASADENA, CA -- In the final home match of the 2012 season for Caltech, the visiting University of Redlands Bulldogs posted a 17-7 win.
The Bulldogs leaped out to a large lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Redlands scored the game's opening goal less than three minutes into the contest. Penserini tied the score 20 seconds left with 5:06 left in the frame. However, the visitors scored the final six goals of the stanza in taking a 7-1 advantage.
Redlands upped their lead by winning the second quarter 3-1. Redlands scored the first goal of the frame with 6:22 left until halftime. Penserini scored his second and final goal of the night to cut the Caltech deficit to 8-2 with 3:40 left until halftime. Redlands posted goals with 2:29 and 29 seconds left respectively to take a 10-2 lead.
A spirited Caltech squad cut their deficit down by winning the third quarter scoring 3-2. Caltech got two goals from Blackwood and another from his brother, Jim.
Entering the final quarter up 12-5, the Bulldogs put any hopes of a senior night comeback away by winning the frame 5-2.
Caltech concludes regular season play with a match at Occidental on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
