Rain Forces UNFINISHED Business with Visiting Johnnies
The stage was set for a great tennis match-up when the visiting Johnnies of St. Johns University, Minnesota made their way to Caltech yesterday afternoon when a very untypical whether pattern hit the otherwise sunny confines of Caltech forcing this non-conference match into rain delays as long as 3 hours. A major highlight for the Beav's was when senior, Ilia Shadrin (Capital HS of Boise, ID) won his first match in 3 years by way of a super tiebreacker (11-9) knotting the match score at 2-2. Unfortunately rain halted play for almost 3 hours when the skys no sooner cleared long enough for Coach Gamble and her crew to squeegie the courts and back came the rain. Finally at about 9:15pm the match was ruled "unfinished" bringing a close to this marathon.
