The 2012-13 school year marks the 12th season for head coach
Rolando Uribe at Caltech and 18 years overall as a collegiate head
coach. This year presents a strong competitive team with many
returning players.
Coach Uribe is excited to have a very young and eager group to work
with. Uribe's ability to teach and coach has traditionally made his
players a competitive unit. With this in mind, coach Uribe serves
as the head coach for Region IV ODP Boy's U-14 program for six
years and has worked with U-14/U-15 national team. His knowledge
and experience of the game has caught the eyes of many of the
student-athletes at Caltech. Uribe recently completed his Master's
degree in Education and also serves as the Physical Education
Professor at Caltech. Coach Uribe is currently a national
instructor/staff for the United States Soccer Federation.
During Uribe's tenure at Mt. San Antonio College he led the team
to its first playoff appearance in the school's history. This feat
earned him the Coach of the Year Award in the South Coast
Conference. Before that he coached the men at San Bernadino Valley
College for four years and the women for two. Other coaching stops
for him have included numerous teams at the club and national
levels.
He is also an accomplished player, having competed at various
levels including professionally. Uribe started his career at
Redlands High School where he was a three-year letterman. He then
went on to play for California State University, San Bernadino
where he lettered 4 consecutive years on the varsity team. As a
freshman and sophomore he was named Most Valuable Player on the
team as well as making the All-Far West and All-Conference teams.
He was named California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of
the Year in 1991 and in 1993 he was named to the All-American Team
by the National Soccer Coaches Association. After college he was
drafted by the Anaheim Splash, a professional indoor soccer team in
Anaheim, in addition to becoming a member of the United States
National Soccer Team.
