Caltech Set to Host 2008 Western Fencing Invitational
Saturday, November 22nd will find the Beaver Fencing teams in
the friendly home confines of the Scott Brown Gymnasium the
site of this year's Western Fencing Invitational which
was originally set for Cal State Fullerton before they dropped
their intercollegiate fencing program earlier this year.
Coach D'Asaro quickly stepped up as Caltech offered its facility as
a venue for this important west coast NCAA fencing
competition. The Western Invitational will see
the fencers from three of the west coast collegiate
fencing powers: Stanford, Air Force and UC San Diego.
Caltech along with the visiting teams will seize opportunities
to get required intercollegiate bouts in an effort to
qualify fencers for the NCAA Western Regional which will be
held in Palo Alto at Stanford on March 7, 2009.
Fencing will begin at 10:00 AM:
10:00 - CIT vs. Stanford
(Men)
and UCSD vs. Air Force (Men)
11:00 - Stanford vs. UCSD
(Men) and
CIT vs. Air Force (Men)
12:00 - Stanford vs. Air Force
(Men) and
Stanford vs. Air Force (Woman)
1:00 - CIT vs. Stanford
(Women) and
UCSD vs. Air Force (Women)
2:00 - Stanford vs. UCSD
(Women) and CIT vs. Air
